Our Story
From One Office in Ohio to All 50 States
The Company started in 2001— a family business in Dayton, Ohio, founded by the Black family to serve contractors who needed real tradespeople, not warm bodies.
Over the next 25 years, we grew. We moved our headquarters to Amarillo, Texas in 2009. In 2015, under Kristi Black's leadership, we rebranded as KT Black and expanded into events & security while growing our skilled trades, energy, and general staffing markets. Today we've placed more than 33,000 workers on 148,000+ assignments for over 3,000 clients in every state in the country. Q1 2026 was the biggest quarter in our history — and we're just getting started.
We're still family-owned. We're still privately held. We intend to keep it that way. And the next generation is active in the business.
2001
Company Founded
The Black family started a construction staffing company in Dayton, OH to serve contractors.
2009
Relocated to Amarillo, Texas
Expanded to multiple locations, offices, and staffing operations across the US, concentrating in the middle part of the country.
2015
Acquisition & Rebrand to KT Black
Acquires a competing staffing company. Rebrands as KT Black Services under Kristi Black's leadership in Amarillo, TX.
2023
All 50 States Milestone
Cumulative operations reach every US state. 33,000+ workers placed. 148,000+ total assignments across 3,297 clients.
2024
Data Center Vertical Launch
Brand-new specialized vertical for hyperscale DC projects. Grows from 5% to 32% of total revenue in its first full year.
2026
Record Quarter
Highest single quarter in company history. Data Centers reach 67% of total revenue. 28 states active in Q1 alone.
